FAQ
How does the bot work? (can i set up my own?)
The lizard bot is set up through the site Cheap Bots Done Quick, and anyone can make a bot this way! I, personally, referred to this thread while creating my bot, though some things may be a bit outdated in that tutorial.Basically all you need to do is create a twitter account - separate from the one you'll have your bot function on - to post all the images/videos/gifs you plan to post on there. Make sure that all the posts on this media account are without captions! from here, you're able to send each post to a private discord server. Once posted in discord, the embedded post will show the t.co link, which is what you'll want to code into Cheap Bots Done Quick. The thread explains in finer detail, but most of what you have to do from here is put the links and whatever captions you would like to add into the code, separated by quotations and commas. If you would like to use the HourlyLizards code as an example, you can refer to it here! Please only use this as an example, and do not copy-paste my coding.-
Can you remove my photo from your account?
I'm more than happy to remove photos from HourlyLizard's code. Feel free to DM the HourlyLizards twitter account, or email me at [email protected].-
Who runs the account? do Multiple people moderate it?
This account is only run by one person, myself! My name is Parker. and you can find most of my other social media accounts under the handle @RaptorHoundRune.I'm not sure if I'll ever have multiple mods on the account, but if that does happen, I'll be choosing someone from my close friends.-
What's your favorite lizard?
This question is so hard, there's NO way I could choose one!! I really love monitor lizards as a whole, but my favorites from that group right now are definitely Ackie Monitors, Perenties, and Desert Monitors! I also really love Caiman Lizards and Spiny-Tailed Skinks!-
Why do you block people / moderate this account?
The main goal I had in mind when first making this gimmick account was to use it for educational purposes, and to keep a positive, healthy space for the reptile community. It seems that there's so many spaces that spread misinformation on reptile care, whether intentional or not, so I want to make sure I'm posting media that reflects well on how to care for / treat lizards and other reptiles. Then again, I'm not perfect! Please do to let me know if something I've posted is harmful (or if I've made any errors in general)!I also plan on keeping this as safe a space I can for all groups. Which, to me, means keeping bigotry away from my content and audience. I block those whom I see as immoral, which includes, but is not exclusive to: animal abusers, racists, homophobes, transphobes, nazis/antisemites, etc. This behavior and mindset will never be tolerated in my space*.
*Gimmick account or not, this is my account, and I will run it the way I see fit. I will not let others dictate this. Thank you!
